We specialize in Industry-Renowned Results-Oriented Scene Study Classes with an emphasis on Script Analysis. At times our classes may also include vocal warm-ups, exercises, improv, and audition technique. Class size is very limited, guaranteeing every student the opportunity to explore scene study in every class.

Once you start classes at #CBYAS you are grandfathered-in at your starting rate for the duration of your time in class!

That means that even if the rates go up, your rate will stay the same as when you first enrolled, for as long as your remain in class or are on "Break Status." (see below)

Our Scene Study classes are designed to be taken in on-going consecutive sessions. There is an initial 8-Week required commitment, after which students will be automatically enrolled in the class month-to-month until cancellation has been requested. Cancellations must be received in writing by the 15th of the current month in order to cancel classes for the next month. 

Our Scene Study Classes are on-going so students may join at any time, however, all classes have wait-lists. If you are on a wait-list already please know that we will contact you as soon as a spot becomes available. The wait time varies, but at times it can be up to several months.

We have never advertised (not one cent!) and yet have maintained wait-lists for all of our classes for the past 15 years. Many students study with us for many years.

TUITION & payment Policies

All Student Families must have a credit card on file and be registered on the Studio Director Portal. 


All new students are required to commit to an initial 8-Week session. After the first 8-Week session, classes are taken month-to-month on an on-going basis. Full payment for the first 4-Weeks is required to secure your spot. 
After your first month, your tuition will be auto-charged monthly on the 20th of every month for classes occurring following month. (If there are more or less than 4 classes in a month you will be auto-charged a pro-rated tuition for the number of classes that are actually in that month on the 20th of the current month.)  

After completing your first 8-Week session, in order to cancel classes for the following month, you must notify us in writing on or before the 15th of the current month or you will be automatically charged on the 20th for the next month. To hold your spot for a future return we suggest you submit a "Break Application" rather than cancel your classes. (See below for more information about our Break Policy.)

If you miss a class, you can make it up in our monthly Make-Up Class! (see below) 


Must be paid up front. One Makeup class will be offered per session. 


A deposit of 50% is required to hold your spot. Balance due by April 15th for Session 1, May 15th for Session 2 and Session 3.


Full payment is required on or before the time of your appointment. Private Coaching and Lessons are by Appointment Only. Families are responsible for updating lost, stolen or expired cards. If the card is declined, you will be notified via email. There is $20 late fee for each week payment is late. You may also pay in studio with cash or check, but you will still need to keep a valid credit card on file on The Studio Director Portal. There is a $40 charge for returned checks.

There are no refunds or credits of any kind including, but not limited to, late arrivals, early withdrawals, non-arrivals, dismissals, and missed classes for any reasons. Payments for all services are non-transferable and non-refundable and non-creditable.


After completing one 8-Week session, you may apply for "Break Status" by submitting a "Break Application" to your hold remaining paid-for classes. The Break Application fee is $100.

While on "Break Status" you are guaranteed:

     ★Your current tuition rate when you return

     ★The return date of your choice within 6 months (skipping the wait-list!)

     ★Eligibility to attend the monthly Make-Up Class while on break

     ★Receive the lower “enrolled student” rate for all Privates!

     ★Your paid-for classes can be used when you return


  • The Break Application must be submitted 2 weeks in advance of the Break, and the Break must be for 2 or more consecutive classes. 

  • The current session must be paid in full, and the 100. Application fee must be paid before a Break can be approved.

  • Upon your return from a Break you must be enrolled for 8 consecutive classes, and are only eligible to apply for another Break after those 8 classes.

  • If a student’s Break Application is approved, the student’s unused classes will be on HOLD until their return date and your chosen return date is guaranteed.

  • If your return date changes, you must notify the studio at least 2 weeks in advance, otherwise, your classes will automatically resume on the date you have indicated on the Break Application.

  • A return date can only be changed once per Break Application.

  • All unused classes will expire 6 months from the beginning of the break.

  • Please note, only continuing students (those who have completed one entire 8-Week session) may apply for Break Status.

We offer free Make-Up Classes! The Make-Up Class is held once a month on the first Sunday of every month. You must be enrolled in a class to attend the Make-Up Class.

The Make-Up Classes are held from 12:30pm to 2:30pm on the first Sunday of every month!

All our classes start on time, every time, however sometimes they will go a bit longer to ensure that every student has an opportunity to do their scene. For new students, please arrive early so you can receive the class materials and get a tour. We except all students to arrive on time, and stay for the entire class. 


If you are going to be late, absent, or leaving early please contact the studio as soon as possible 818.760.0060 or email office@cynthiabain.com so we can let your instructor know.

If a student arrives unexcused more than 15 minutes late the instructor reserves the right to only permit them to observe class rather than participate.


Drop off / Pick-Up

Students may only be dropped off 15 minutes before a class or coaching, and should be picked up immediately afterwards. Students may wait for up to 15 minutes in the lobby. A parent or guardian must be present to pick up a child under the age of 14.

There is a $1 per minute charge for early drop-offs or late pick-ups beyond the 15-minute grace period.


Food is not allowed inside the theater, however beverages are allowed. Eating is permitted in the lobby only. There are free organic cookies, and bottled water available for $1.00 in the lobby. For the younger classes, we send a runner to Jamba Juice halfway through class. Please order when you sign in and the cost is $6.00 cash only.

cell phones

Cell phones are not allowed inside the theater, so cell phones must be placed in the basket in the lobby before class. If your cell phone goes off during class, you will be asked to leave and wait until the working scene is completed.


Class Materials

Upon starting class you will be given a folder of all the materials you will need for class. Please bring it with you to every class. If you need a replacement folder please notify the front desk. The replacement folder cost is $10.00. We provide pencils, pens, and highlighters. Please consider wearing comfortable clothes and shoes that allow you to move freely and a light sweater as it can get chilly in the air-conditioned theater.

Sides Policy

Sides and Scripts used for classes at #CBYAS may include current television, films, and productions past, present and future. These materials are for educational purposes only and may not be used outside of class for any personal or professional reasons. Materials may vary in the ages for which they suited. If you are uncomfortable with materials for any reason please let your instructor know immediately and/or contact the studio at office@cynthiabain.com.​
