Biography

Cynthia has been training young actors for 12 years and has established herself as one the premier coaches and performance consultants to young actors in the industry today. Her students include some of the top young actors in film and television.

Cynthia's uncanny understanding of the young performer is rooted in her own career as a young actor which started at age 14 when she was cast as a guest star in a top-ten TV show after her first very first audition. Numerous starring roles in feature films, MOW's, miniseries, network pilots and episodic television followed.

Seeking a truly comprehensive, classical acting education, Cynthia was accepted into UCLA's School of Theatre, Film and Television. In her senior year during a talent competition, she was drawn back to professional acting, landing the starring role in the cult classic Pumpkinhead, her first feature film role. Many roles followed including an Ace Nomination for Best Actress for her performance as Didi, the Midwestern wife of an army officer forever changed by his combat experience.

In order to graduate from UCLA while working as a professional actor, Cynthia continued her education part-time, eventually earning her BA in Theatre Arts at age 30.

Cynthia discovered her passion for directing young actors at UCLA. But it her years of study with beloved acting coach, Roy London that truly inspired her to synthesize her experience and focus on coaching, teaching and directing.

She officially opened her first formal acting class in 1999 with seven students at a friend's acting studio. Honing her technique along the way with her contemporary mentor, Howard Fine, enrollment grew and industry referrals followed.

In 2005, Cynthia purchased Studio City's Laurelgrove Theatre, renovated it and renamed it The Studio City Theatre. Since she began over a decade ago, Cynthia has trained and kick-started the careers of hundreds of professional young actors at her Young Actor Studio.

In addition to teaching and coaching at her studio, Cynthia works as the on-set coach and performance consultant to major television networks and film studios.

Cynthia places great importance on education and emotional balance in her students' lives. As a member of the Advisory Committee of The Actors Fund's Looking Ahead program, she contributes to the design of education programs, seminars and services that support young actors.
